Robot Body

If the mind isn’t a physical place like your body, then what is it? And what is this physical place called a “body” in which you spend your life? A while ago I read an article by Louis Menand, Ph.D. in The New Yorker magazine (Oct. 6, 1997) about Children’s Books. In the article he refers to “...one of the oldest purposes of children’s literature, which is to explore what it means to have a body. The body is the toy they cannot take away”. I understand that when he wrote that he was not likely thinking about this the same way I approach the matter in RoboCosm, but still I couldn’t help but think “Yes! That’s exactly what I’m doing!” Anyway, regardless of whether you're philosophizing or just enjoying a crazy fantasy with some some wild, fun artwork, here is some description of how I imagine the MAX-2000 Robot Body:
MAX-2000 ROBOT
with Miniaturized Cranial and Abdominal Internal Environments
Viewed from outside the MAX-2000 Robot (M2K) has the appearance of a living human body. Sophisticated holographic projectors can even fool x-ray machines and other scanners, but in fact the M2K is a technological marvel capable of comfortably housing numerous occupants mainly in the Cranial and Abdominal sections.
The Cranial Environment is the command center of the M2K, while the Abdominal Environment provides additional room for storage, visitors, or just a change of scenery. Elevators and auxiliary conduits connect these two sections and also allow access to other parts of the M2K. Typically these other areas (the arms and legs) are occupied mainly by maintenance robots and diagnostic nanoprobes.
The head of the M2K Robot houses the Main Memory and Central Processing Unit overseeing every aspect of operations and the high level maintenance robots charged with its upkeep. Every computer on the MAX-2000 is at least Y-10-K ready (that is to say: guaranteed to be free of confusion about dates at least until the year 10,000). Included in the head are Bedrooms, Bathrooms, Libraries, Elevators, Game Room, Park, Swimming Pool, etc.
The M2K energy source is mainly solar energy which is converted by the Main (Quantum/Plasma) Power Generator and the Auxiliary Quantum Drive System into Quantum/Plasma Energy. Occasionally an overabundance of Quantum/Plasma energy will build up. To prevent the overload of gases resulting from Quantum/Plasma build up, the gases are periodically vented out the aft waste disposal port. (This process in the scientific community is called Fermented Air Reduction Technology).
In theory, with its highly advanced Solar/Quantum/Plasma system and meticulous maintenance robots, the M2K should be able to run perfectly for hundreds of years without any outside assistance. The solar energy absorbed and stored by the Solar Kinetic Intake Net is used in part to project an invisible force field around the entire perimeter of the M2K. While this energy field only extends approximately one micron (one thousandth of a millimeter) beyond the S.K.I.N., it is enough to protect the surface from moisture or unhealthy forms of radiation.
Both Hand and Foot units are equipped with two-man cockpits and may be separated from the body in an emergency situation. No matter what position the M2K is in or what direction it is moving in, internal gravity controls keep all occupants happily upright and stabilized.
